I Mr. Ebenezer K Havor, president of the Positive Transparency and Accountability Movement- GH, (PTAAM GH) write to invoke your jurisdiction under section 2(a), 3(1)(g) and of the office of the special prosecutor (OSP) Act, 2017 (Act 959) to investigate all corruption and corruption related issues or cases in the country,
by the recent investigative work of the Fourth Estate about the award of a scholarship by the secretariat.
As a CSO whose objective is to fight corruption and educate the general public about corruption’s effects towards national development, it is prudent to petition your noble office on these allegations against the scholarship secretariat regarding awarding scholarships to unmerited individuals.
The investigation report into the operation of the secretariat coupled with audio recordings from Joy FM revealed the following:
- The investigation discovered instances where individuals received double sponsorship for the same course of study from the secretariat and other institutions, one such person is Dr Dennis Addo who allegedly received a total of USD 50,031 for postgraduate studies from the secretariat and also an undisclosed amount from the institution, further details could be obtained from the investigative report of the Fourth Estate.
